  • Process Process

    Process

    1. Centralized governance at scale for AWS accounts

  • We employed AWS Control Tower to automate the setup of multiple AWS accounts and manage the landscape at scale.
  • We utilized Service Control Policies (SCPs) for high-level access controls and employed AWS Identity and Access Management (AWS IAM) to implement more detailed and specific controls.
  • 2. Automating the starting and stopping of various AWS services

  • We used Instance Scheduler on AWS to automate the starting and stopping of multiple AWS services like Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling Groups, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), and Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) instances.
  • 3. Configuring automated OS patching across multi-cloud and hybrid environments

  • We employed Systems Manager features like Patch Manager and Session Manager to provide customers with remote access and automation without requiring direct network access.
  • For patching automation, we utilized built-in patch management features such as patch baselines and patch groups to control which patches are applied to specific instances in addition to maintenance windows to manage when these changes happen.
  • 4. Fine-Tuning Security Compliance Using AWS Config

  • Utilizing AWS Config facilitates the continuous monitoring and auditing of compliance of all AWS resources. This consolidated view has streamlined daily operations, such as locating assets and asset owners faster for our DevOps team, significantly improving their productivity.
  • Employing AWS Config also enabled us to store the configuration history of all resources, making it easier to review security compliance. We used AWS Config rules to ensure the application of mandatory tags to cloud services. These tags are required for billing purposes and to maintain clear asset ownership for regulatory purposes.
